'A Perfect Game'- that describes the game of Ateneo as they take Game 1 of the UAAP Mens Basketball vs. FEU Tamaraws.
It was a competitive start for FEU as sophomore guard Terrence Romeo made 10 of his 23 points by shooting well from all over the court in the first quarter. The Tamaraws later took a 26-16 lead with less than eight minutes left in the second quarter. But the Blue Eagles adjusted quickly behind Salva and freshman Kiefer Ravena, who is expected to be named Rookie of the Year, to eventually force a 33-all tie at the half. Ateneo took control of the third quarter, capitalizing on foul-prone FEU cagers by hitting shots from the foul line. A Ravena jumper for gave the Blue Eagles a 60-49 lead entering the payoff period. FEU struggled the rest of the way, as Ateneo's 6-foot-11 Center Greg Slaughter put the finishing touches on the win with two slam dunks.

FEU Coach Bert Flores said. 'It was an awful second half for FEU. First and second [quarter], nasa gameplan kami pero sa third and fourth [quarter] maganda ang execution nila. Nakalimutan na namin dumepensa nung second half dahil masyadong inisip yung opensa.”
Ateneo Coach Norman Black said. “It wasn’t a blowout, It just happened that it became a blowout in the endgame. We just finished this one and we’ll enjoy this for a moment. But obviously we need to win he next game or otherwise we will give them momentum, and they’ll have the confidence heading into game 3.”
